If the picture of the driver is not clear will my case still be prosecuted?
It is up to the city prosecutor to determine whether to prosecute any particular case. Bear in mind that the quality of the original photographs is generally much better than the quality of the photographs in the Notice of Citation. You are encouraged to view the actual photographs of our violation before deciding whether to contest your case.

I have reviewed the photographs at the court and they are not clear. What should I do?
If you would like to look at the photographs in the prosecutors' file, you will need to set your case for arraignment (see process for Contesting a Citation). At the arraignment date, you will have the chance to meet with the prosecutor and look at the photographs in their file.

Who reviews the images and determines if a violation has occurred?
Trained officials review every picture to confirm that the plate is readable, the driver is identifiable, and to ensure that the vehicle is in violation prior to a citation being issued. A citation is mailed to vehicle owner only in cases where it is clear that a violation occurred.

Is the picture of my license plates enough to prove it was me, and convict me?
No. In Boulder, there has to be a picture of your face. The prosecutor has to convince the judge that you were driving at the time of the violation.
