Finding a Location

Looking for a location to open a business or relocate your growing business?

If so, the location must conform with Boulder zoning regulations. In the City of Boulder, zoning districts regulate land uses and development. Each property in the city is designated with a zoning district on the city’s zoning map. Please see the link to the zoning maps on the right side of the page.

Looking to make upgrades to your current building or possibly build a new one?

Please contact one of the project specialists in the city's Planning and Development Services Center. They can answer a wide range of building, engineering, and planning questions. The specialists perform a “completeness check” to ensure that an application is ready for review. Several types of permits can be issued “over the counter” by the project specialists. Please see the link to Planning & Development Services on the right side of the page.

Considering opening a store or another type of business in Boulder that would benefit from drive-by traffic? Curious about traffic circulation in a specific area?

If so, a comprehensive listing of traffic counts at locations throughout Boulder is now available. You will find information on hourly traffic volume, average daily traffic volume, and historic traffic data for areas all around town. Please see the link to the transportation maps on the right side of the page.
