Flatiron Flyer

Flatiron Flyer

Regional Transportation District (RTD) is now operating the Flatiron Flyer, the new U.S. 36 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service

Latest News

On Jan. 20, the RTD Board, in response to customer feedback, unanimously approved the amendment to the proposed April 2016 Flatiron Flyer service changes.

Under this amendment, the Flatiron Flyer 4 will no longer serve the US 36 & Sheridan station (Westminster), relieving the overcrowding issues currently experienced during the rush hour time periods. This change will also allow the FF4 service to utilize the US 36 express/HOV lane for a longer period of time.

This proposal also created a new service, beginning February 2016, that operates between US 36 & Sheridan station and Civic Center station. Designated Route 90L, this new pattern will begin in the morning peak at US 36 Sheridan station in Westminster, as did the former Route 86X. The 90L will provide four peak period trips, both morning and in the evening, and operate between US 36 & Sheridan and Civic Center stations, each in peak direction only.

As of Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, RTD will operate the following additional p.m. trips on Route FF4.

  • Bus leaves 18th Street and California at 4:45 p.m. Continues to Boulder Junction at Depot Square Station, scheduled to arrive at 5:37 p.m.
  • Bus leaves 18th Street & California at 5:05 p.m. Continues to Boulder Junction at Depot Square Station, scheduled to arrive at 5:57 p.m.
  • Trips will appear in the online schedule in April.

The Flatiron Flyer provides faster regional connections to/from Denver Civic Center and Union Station, and Downtown Boulder and Boulder Junction, with stops along the newly constructed US 36 corridor. The newly constructed US 36 bikeway also provides connections to all stations along the US 36 corridor.

Flatiron Flyer routes, as shown below, will replace current BV/BX/BMX, HX, and S routes.

BV - FF 1, BX, BMX - FF2, BF, 86X - FF3, HX - FF4, DM - FF 5, S - FF6, T - FF1 + E Line
