Boulder Valley Employee Survey (BVES)
Help us understand transportation needs in and around Boulder! To participate, follow these simple steps:
- Download the app for free on your smartphone: or
- Start the Trip Tracker before your next work day and allow Location permissions. The Trip Tracker will track your trips for 24 hours beginning at midnight and ask you to annotate each of your trips. (Trip annotations take less than one minute to complete.)
- Take the three questionnaires (approximately 5 minutes total to complete).

Background on the BVES
The City of Boulder Transportation Division has been conducting the BVES since 1990 and uses the results to track progress in meeting the city’s Transportation Master Plan and Climate Commitment goals. Information from this survey will help us improve the future transportation options available to employees who work in Boulder.
The National Research Center, Inc. (NRC), a professional survey firm, administers the survey and performs data analysis.
Your privacy is important to us. Your answers are NOT associated with your name (which we do not know and do not ask for in the App or Web Survey). Your responses to this survey will be kept in strict confidence and only used in the aggregate. This means that your individual answers and individual travel behavior will never be shown in our reporting. NRC’s dataset will retain the answers to the survey questions and if you used the App, the geographic locations visited throughout your work day. This data will not be shared with any parties other than NRC, DVmobile and the City, nor will the geographic data be used for any other purpose than travel modelling.
