Mission
The Division of Housing's mission is to preserve and provide safe, high-quality and affordable housing opportunities through collaborative community planning and funding of programs.
Structure
The Division of Housing has three primary work groups: Affordable Homeownership, Community Investment, and Inclusionary Housing/Policy and Planning.

Responsibilities
- The Homeownership program screens and certifies buyers to ensure that they meet income, asset, mortgage and other requirements. The team also works with owners to ensure that they are complying with occupancy, refinance, and resale agreements in exchange for owning a permanently affordable home. Down payment grants and loans are also administered through this program.
- Community Investment administers funding (Affordable Housing Fund, Community Housing Assistance Program, federal HOME Program, federal Community Development Block Grant).
- Inclusionary Housing/Planning implements affordable housing policies related to new residential development activity.
- The Division of Housing teams with Planning, Housing + Sustainability and other departments to support the city's housing policies.
