15th Street Between Canyon Boulevard and Arapahoe Avenue to Be Closed Nov. 30 - Dec. 23 for Bridge Replacement Work
*UPDATE 11/20/20: Due to delays, the previously reported construction plans for the southbound lane closure have changed. Both lanes of 15th Street between Canyon Boulevard and Arapahoe Avenue will remain open the week of Nov. 23. However, the street will be fully closed Nov. 30 through Dec. 23, weather-dependent, to allow contractors to complete necessary work.
Beginning Nov. 30, all vehicle and bicyclist traffic will be detoured to 14th Street and onsite construction flaggers will direct roadway users. Businesses should be accessed via Canyon Boulevard, Arapahoe Avenue, 14th Street or Grove Street.
Construction crews will replace the existing box culvert bridge connecting 14th and 15th streets, which has exceed its lifespan, with a new bridge that lays the groundwork for an extension of the Boulder Creek Path by Dushanbe Teahouse further east that will fill in missing multi-use path links, as identified in the city’s Transportation Master Plan. Crews will also widen the sidewalk on the east side of 15th Street opposite the bridge and install curb ramps to enhance the area’s accessibility.
