Boulder Public Library Provides Services While Working to Keep You Safe

Front of Boulder Public LibraryWhether you’re missing that library book feel or ready to get involved in summer programs, Boulder Public Library is ready to serve you.

Check out these highlights and find more information at boulderlibrary.org.

Book pick up at Boulder Public Library

Did you know you can place a hold for library materials online, then pick them up? Library staff filled almost 900 holds on June 1 when they began hold carry-out service at the Main Library and has filled hundreds per day since.

Here’s how to find books currently on the shelves at the Main Library and place a hold on them:

  1. Find the book you want in the online catalog and place a hold on it.
  2. Wait for notification that your item is ready through your preferred method.
  3. Make your appointment on the calendar to pick up your holds. You MUST have an appointment to pick up.
  4. Come pick up your book, movie, etc from the Main Library, at the south entrance on Arapahoe Ave. Appointments allow for 30 minute windows so library staff can sanitize and get ready for the next customer.

The Main Library is also now accepting book returns at both outdoor book returns. For safety, all materials are quarantined for 72 hours, so give the returns a few days to be removed from your account. As always, the library does not have late fees/fines and deadlines have been extended.

Summer of Discovery is a gift that keeps on giving

Boulder Public Library’s annual summer reading challenge and activity program is back for 2020. The now-virtual program for children, teens and adults runs through Aug. 31, and the new Summer of Discovery app for phones and tablets makes it easier than ever participate.

This year’s theme is “Our Connected Stories,” which is about finding common ground among our rich diversity of cultures and backgrounds. To participate you must register, track your reading and complete the activities. You can also join online events and programs to learn something new.

Participants can earn prizes and badges such as a free ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery, a free entry ticket to Gateway Park, the Museum of BoulderPopSocket, or a neck Gaiter.
