City Offers Statement on Public Utilities Commission Deliberations

The City of Boulder today is releasing the following statement with regards to comments made by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission during public deliberations on Aug. 30:

“The city is reviewing the comments made at the Commissioners’ deliberation meeting and awaiting the written order.   On preliminary review, it appears that the Commission has created a clear path forward for the city to proceed with municipalization.  The anticipated conditional approval of the acquisition of the distribution system outside the substations should provide a firm basis to work from.  City staff is already at work on preparing the Network Integration Transmission Service filing that the Commissioners required prior to transfer of the substations.  The city is looking forward to working cooperatively with Xcel as directed by the Commission.  The city attorney will be requesting time at the beginning of the next council meeting to describe the deliberations and answer questions from council members.”
