City to Host Local Electric Utility Development Information Session Monday
Staff will provide an update on the communication and engagement plan
On Sept. 17, the city will host a public information session to provide an update on the city’s effort to develop a local electric utility. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the West Boulder Senior Center (909 Arapahoe).
At the meeting, City Attorney Tom Carr will discuss the status of agreements with Xcel Energy required by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC). These agreements address how the city will reimburse Xcel for their work related to the city’s separation, land use and the list of Xcel electric assets the city will seek to acquire. The agreements are due to the PUC on Oct. 26. The public will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed agreements at a Sept. 20 City Council public hearing.
At the event, staff will also provide an update on the communication and engagement plan and describe the types of activities and opportunities the public can expect to see between now and the 2020 election.
