Your guide to all things Halloween and all things Boulder. Check out these upcoming city or city-sponsored family-friendly events.

Halloween Carnival

Friday, Oct. 26
The annual Halloween Carnival is a community wide, family-friendly event held at the South Boulder Recreation Center Gymnasium on Oct. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m.  All ages are welcome at the event, but the carnival is intended for visitors ages 3 to 8. Children under 3 are free, as are adults.  All other children are $5 each, which includes all the activities at the Halloween Carnival, including crafts, face painting, carnival games and more.

Howl-O-Ween! Dog Trick - or - Treating Event

Sunday, Oct. 28
Join OSMP for this Halloween event for your dog! Visit fun and educational stations amid the beautiful colors of fall, while your dog trick-or-treats for tasty dog snacks and toys along the way. Costumes are encouraged! Meeting location provided to registered participants.

The event is free, but space is limited. Please register for a time slot.

Boulder Library Events

Oct. 25 to 29

Costume Hack-a-thon 
Thursday, Oct. 25, from 1-5 p.m., at Main Library's BLDG 61 Makerspace.
Last minute costumes creations, modifications, and consultations with the BLDG 61 team and artist Steven Frost. A selection of materials will be provided and as well as access to select machinery per costuming needs and staff availability.

Ages 8 and up, under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration suggested (so we know how many to expect!)

Dia de los Muertos
Friday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 5:45 p.m., at the Main Library’s BLDG 61 Makerspace. Travel through the tradition and mysticism of the colorful Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) by creating: Papel picado (Papel picado banners), Calaveritas de azúcar (sugar skulls), Máscaras de Catrinas y Catrines (masks of Catrin and Catrinas), Pan de muertos (Bread of the dead), Calaveritas literarias (literary calaveritas), and Altares de muertos (Dead altars). This workshop will be conducted in English and Spanish.

Appropriate for ages 8 and up. Youth under 12 should be with a responsible adult. Space is limited, please register to confirm your spot.

Full STEAM Ahead: Get Slimey
Slime Chemistry Demystified! Learn how to make fluffy slime, floam (moldable slime with beads), and clear slime that shimmers or glows in the dark, just in time for Halloween! Ages 7-12.

Munchkin Masquerade

Head to downtown Boulder on Oct. 31 for this annual trick-or-treat event on and around Pearl Street. Munchkin Masquerade, held 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., features treat stops at participating businesses. Recommended for children ages 12 and under.
