Food Tax Rebate Application Period Ends June 30
Application forms must be postmarked by June 30
Only a few weeks remain for qualified Boulder residents to file for a food tax rebate. Each year, the City of Boulder provides rebates to help compensate residents with lower incomes for the city sales tax they pay on food. Residents seeking a rebate must fill out an application documenting their eligibility. The application period began March 1, 2018 and closes June 30, 2018. Application forms must be postmarked by the June 30 deadline. Applicants from 2017 automatically received an application in the mail based on the address listed in their application.
To be eligible to receive a refund, applicants must meet financial eligibility guidelines, have been a resident of Boulder for the entire 2017 calendar year, and be:
- age 62 or over for the entire 2017 calendar year; or
- a person with disability; or
- a family with at least one child under 18 years of age in the household for the entire 2017 calendar year
Rebates are $83 for individuals and $253 for families. More information on the program, including income limits and a printable application, is available on the internet at www.boulderseniorservices.com, or by calling Jay Allen, Program Administrator, at 303-441-1836.
This program is administered by Boulder Senior Services, Department of Human Services. Applications in English or Spanish can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the West Boulder Senior Center, 909 Arapahoe Avenue and are available online.
