South Boulder Recreation Center plans annual maintenance shutdown March 25 through April 2
The South Boulder Recreation Center (SBRC), located at 1360 Gillaspie Drive, will be closed for its annual maintenance shutdown from Saturday, March 25 through Sunday, April 2.
The facility will reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday, April 3.
This year’s annual maintenance efforts will focus on:
- Refinishing the gymnasium floor
- Painting in the pool area
- Renovating the front desk area
- Updating the lifeguard office area
- General facility maintenance not achievable when the building is occupied due to access, chemical odors, noise, etc.
This year, SBRC is using Arena 300TM to refinish the gymnasium floors. This new, low-fume product is water-based and VOC compliant, so it does not leave a lingering solvent odor. Returning patrons should see a big improvement, and smell less fumes, when they return to their fitness routines on April 3.
Although staff will be busy with maintenance projects, they also will undertake valuable emergency procedure training while the building is closed. SBRC staff will participate in three different scenarios to help train/instruct them about how to effectively handle and react to a variety of emergency situations.
The East Boulder Community Center and North Boulder Recreation Center are open during the SBRC shutdown. For operating hours, pool schedules and more visit www.BoulderParks-Rec.org.
