Open Space and Mountain Parks seeks volunteers for National Trails Day project
The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department invites community members to celebrate National Trails Day by volunteering to help improve an important city open space trail.
The National Trails Day volunteer project will help OSMP improve a Mesa Trail section north of the National Center of Atmospheric Research. Volunteers will work with OSMP trail crews on the construction of a sustainable trail reroute that will improve visitor experience and restore sensitive wildlife habitat.
Volunteers should dress in layers and bring appropriate clothing for rain and sun exposure. Work gloves, sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, a long-sleeved T-shirt, a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen and a hat are also necessary to participate. A custom-made National Trails Day tee-shirt and lunch will be provided to volunteers as a thank you for contributing to the stewardship of city open space.
Community members may register for this volunteer project at volunteerOSMP.org or by calling 303-413-7632. Because of the type of work involved in the project, along with its location, registration is limited to 60 participants. These spots will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
