Age Well Advisory Committee (AWAC)
The Age Well Advisory Committee (AWAC )
The Age Well Advisory Committee (AWAC) provides consultation and expertise to the city via the Housing and Human Services Department’s Older Adult Services staff on policy and programs related to older adults.
Specifically, AWAC advises city staff on long-term planning issues and trends, policies and programs that affect the older adult population. In addition, Committee members promote and publicize older adult programs and advocate to the community on behalf of older adults. Terms are up to three years and meetings are open to the public.
AWAC members must be city residents. Diversity, equity, and inclusion is a priority consideration in appointing committee members. Examples of desirable areas of expertise to help guide the AWAC's work may include gerontology, social work, wellness, social programming, health care, activity in the local community, and knowledge of local programs that support older adults.
