Prairie Dog Management Tours

Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) is hosting two tours on OSMP lands on Tuesday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 17, to provide information on OSMP prairie dog management efforts and its relationship to ecosystems and agriculture management. The two tour dates, times and agendas, including each of the stop locations and anticipated stop times, are listed below.

The tours will present an opportunity for Boulder City Council and Open Space Board of Trustees (OSBT) members to view several properties and project sites in advance of their upcoming discussions of the staff analysis of Prairie Dog Working Group recommendations.  Staff will present an analysis of the Prairie Dog Working Group Recommendations to the Open Space Board of Trustees at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 10, when there will be an opportunity for public comment. Learn more about the  Prairie Dog Working Group recommendations.

Community members are responsible for their own transportation to each tour stop. Council and Board members are asked to keep their questions and discussion to the tour stops and not during travel times. Given the outdoor nature of the tour, there will not be an opportunity for public comment during the tours. Community members may submit comments they would like to share with City Council and Open Space Board of Trustees during the tours, by emailing their comments to Alison Ecklund, OSMP's community relations coordinator, at [email protected] Please submit comments by 5 p.m., Monday, April 1. Comment cards will also be available for community members to fill out during the tours.

If you have questions, please contact Andy Pelster, OSMP's agriculture stewardship supervisor, at [email protected]
