Grandparents as Nature Guides for Grandchildren

Grandparents as Nature Guides for Grandchildren
Wed. June 27, 2 – 4 p.m.
This program is free but limited to 20. Reserve spaces with  [email protected]  or call 720-612-0506

American biologist and author, Rachel Carson wrote that “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in.”  In the electronic age, this sentiment is truer than ever, and grandparents can be a powerful part of keeping wonder alive in their grandchildren! This public program is the first part of a two-part series for grandparents to provide ideas, information and inspiration for becoming “Nature Mentors” to their grandparents and other young people. This indoor session will familiarize Grandparents with Lafayette Open Spaces and a variety of fun lessons, activities and resources. The location in Lafayette will be provided when you register.
A subsequent outdoor session will be held at the Public Road trailhead for Coal Creek at 9:30-11am on Wednesday, July 18, and other, informal opportunities will be provided.
