Natural Selections is our ongoing series of educational nature programs on topics including ecology, wildlife, local history, night hikes, field workshops with local artists, star-gazing, children’s programs, plus many more. All programs are free and open to the public. Please do not bring dogs expecpt for special dog-guardian hikes.

Call for Artist Instructors

OSMP is seeking artist instructors for the 2018 OSMP and the Arts Program, a non-residential program that includes outdoor based hike workshops on OSMP lands. Learn more about Artist Instructors and submit an application

 

Teachers, scout troops and community groups can obtain free individual programs from Open Space and Mountain Parks naturalists, visit the  Request an Environmental Education Program page to learn more.

Lambing at Black Cat Farm! - PROGRAM FULL

@ 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Join us for a special lambing season tour of Black Cat Farm, a local organic agricultural operation, and meet the lambs! All ages welcome.

Nature for Kids & Parents: Tracking Tales

@ 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Tracking is exciting! It's like being a detective: you learn about animals' ways and find clues to understand their stories. ~

Join OSMP for a morning of nature play! Nature Play dates offer opportunities to relax with your children in nature. Drop in and explore. All ages welcome.

Grief Walk

@ 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Walk in safe company and find solace on the mountain, and enjoy the nourishing support of our open space lands and their powers in mending the broken heart.

Full Moon - Relaxing Through Forest Bathing

@ 6 to 8 p.m.

Join OSMP staff for a walk in the woods under a brilliant full moon to learn the restorative practice of Shinrin Yoku – the Japanese art of forest bathing

Peace Walk

@ 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Relax and restore yourself on this gentle and calming 2.8 mile walk in the sunshine on Marshall Mesa.

Seeing Shapes: Storytime and Kids’ Hike

@ 10 to 11 a.m.

Join seasonal naturalist Ellen Orleans for stories about animals, plants, and children in our wonderful outdoors, then looks for nature's shapes on a hike.

EASY Newcomers’ Hike on Enchanted Mesa!

Walking Through History: Chautauqua

@ 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Walk through 100 years of history around Chautauqua and surrounding trails on a fun 3.5 mile hike. The land is rich with amazing stories!

Nature for Kids & Parents: Animal Ninjas

@ 1 to 3 p.m.

Animals are sneaky, they can hide well, attack quickly to catch food and fight hard to defend themselves. Learn how animals can be like ninjas!

Happy Spring! Bring on the Light

Gift your body, mind and spirit on Spring Equinox with a walk upon our awakening Earth. Take a revitalizing hike on Range View & Ute trails on Flagstaff.

Get prepared for the next Boulder Philharmonic concert with this nature hike to look for migrating waterfowl and listen to classical music inspired by birds.
