Nature Hikes and Programs
Natural Selections is our ongoing series of educational nature programs on topics including ecology, wildlife, local history, night hikes, field workshops with local artists, star-gazing, children’s programs, plus many more. All programs are free and open to the public. Please do not bring dogs except for special dog-guardian hikes.

Upcoming Nature Hikes & Programs
@ 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Join naturalist Vangi Fortuna for picture books followed by a kid-friendly hike with magnifying glasses to look for tiny nature.
@ 2 to 4:30 p.m.
Bring your dog on this fairly easy hike to the gorgeous Woods Quarry while you get a crash course in OSMP's history!
@ 9 to 11 a.m.
This program is best for children who have never fished or have limited fishing experience. Equipment and bait will be provided.
@ 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Explore Bobolink trail month by month in a series of hikes designed to focus on nature's cycles and subtle changes in our favorite spots.
@ 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Parents and grandparents can learn fun tips and tricks for engaging young children in nature. Learn from a seasoned nature momma!
@ 2 to 4 p.m.
Nature Play Dates offer opportunities to relax with your children in nature. Drop in to enjoy the cool mountain air and run around in the pine forest!

Join OSMP for a morning of nature play! Nature Play dates offer opportunities to relax with your children in nature. Drop in and explore. All ages welcome.

Enjoy an in-depth exploration of geology, history, wildlife and botany at White Rocks, an area so fragile it is usually closed to visitors.
@ 6 to 8 a.m.
Learn the Japanese stress-busting technique of Shinrin Yoku - "forest bathing" - on this relaxing hike, while you soak up the calm of nature.
@ 1 to 3 p.m.
We will go on an adventure hunt to learn how important seeds are for people, wildlife and plants. Games and fun! Ages 5+.
@ 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Join writer and OSMP naturalist Ellen Orleans to deepen your connection with nature through readings, guided writing activities, and sharing of work.
