Nature Hikes and Programs
Natural Selections is our ongoing series of educational nature programs on topics including ecology, wildlife, local history, night hikes, field workshops with local artists, star-gazing, children’s programs, plus many more. All programs are free and open to the public. Please do not bring dogs except for special dog-guardian hikes.

Upcoming Nature Hikes & Programs
@ 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Join the OSMP Recreation Coordinator for the most requested hike in the park and get excited about a new year, new you.
@ 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Wear an animal hat to story time as we flap our arms and stomp our feet to celebrate animals in winter. Then we'll take a short, kid-friendly hike.
@ 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Join OSMP naturalists to experience winter in all its glory! We will take a moderate hike and explore the landscape and its wild inhabitants.
@ 8 to 9 a.m.
Take a short early morning hike on the Chautauqua trail with OSMP rangers to meet Flatiron Freddy and see if his shadow appears!
@ 5:45 to 7:30 p.m.
What are those mysterious mountain lions really like? What should I do if I see one? Is my dog in danger? Learn the answers!
@ 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Prepare yourself for a steep and strenuous trek to the summit of Green Mountain. You'll be rewarded with spectacular views!
@ 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Families can celebrate Valentine's Day learning about the amazing winter courtship of our great-horned owls. Fun and games! Ages 5+.
