New OSMP Office Location and Office Hours

Open Space and Mountain Parks administrative operations relocated to 2520 55th St.

To address significant space limitations, inefficiencies and needed upgrades and repairs at five Open Space and Mountain Parks’ current office locations, the majority of the department’s staff moved to 2520 55th Street in Boulder. The new OSMP office space is centrally located on a major street connected to bus lines and bike paths, providing community members with a convenient location where the department can provide community services – such as visitor information, Voice and Sight tags and parking permits to the public. 

Office Hours

The OSMP office is generally open Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm. In addition to regular city holidays, the office is closed the second Tues. of each month from 11:30 to 12:30 pm, the third Wed. of each month from 8 - 10:30 am, as well as the last Wed. of each month from 3:30 - 5 pm.

Directions

The OSMP office is located at 2520 55th Street. The main entrance to the building faces east and may be accessed from Flatirons Parkway off 55th Street. Turn left at the driveway marked 2500 55th Street, drive forward and turn left on the fourth aisle to access the OSMP building.

Why did OSMP move?

Similar to other city departments that have experienced limitations at their current locations, OSMP has five buildings currently in use to conduct its operations that were designed and built decades ago – Cherryvale North, Cherryvale South, Annex, Ute and the Ranger headquarters at the Yards. As city open space has grown with additional acquisitions, it has required increased land management resources, operational and office space needs. In 2015 and 2016, OSMP conducted studies that identified significant issues to address, including:

  • Major upgrades and remodeling needs to address health and safety issues, including a lack of potable water at two buildings and updates to replace or repair deteriorating fire suppression sprinkler, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Significant space limitations associated with existing office buildings. The studies found that while OSMP has about 25,700 square feet of office space, it actually needs 40,000 square feet of office space.
  • Considerable inefficiencies of having OSMP staff spread out over seven buildings at five locations – some separated by more than seven miles – throughout the Boulder area.

With the move to 2520 55th Street, OSMP will be meeting objectives laid out in the two studies while also providing staff and the community a central location for open space services while upgrades and remodeling efforts at OSMP’s current office locations are completed. The Chautauqua Ranger Cottage will remain open and visitor services at this location will not change.  It is anticipated that staff will remain at the new office location for the next five years. In 2019, OSMP will develop a feasibility analysis of re-developing its Cherryvale location as a permanent campus location.
