COVID19 Restrictions

Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP’s) Hub at 2520 55th Street is closed. Learn more about city-related COVID19 closures. Community members may book Shelter & Facilities online below, however, OSMP advises that bookings of OSMP facilities for weddings and other events may be subject to change.

Reservations are permitted to take place with additional terms and conditions following Emergency Orders Related to COVID-19 including those limiting group size for gatherings. As of July 31, group size maximum limit, by facility, is listed as follows based on Amended City Order Closing Certain Parks Facilities pdf and Colorado Guidance for Outdoor Events.

  • Sunrise Amphitheater: 44 people per reservation
  • Stone Shelter: 20 people per reservation, 5 people at any given time using covered area
  • Wood Shelter: 10 people per reservation, 7 people at any given time using covered area
  • Bluebell Shelter: 8 people per reservation
  • Halfway House: INDOOR SHELTER CLOSED THROUGH AT LEAST DECEMBER 31; 12 people per reservation permitted September 1 – December 31 for OUTDOOR PATIO/PICNIC AREA ONLY
  • Green Mountain Lodge: RESERVATIONS CLOSED THROUGH AT LEAST DECEMBER 31; outdoor space available on a first come, first served basis for groups of no more than 10

It is the responsibility of the reservation permit holder to follow the current group size allowance. Reservation permit holders should also keep in mind the current COVID terms and conditions listed below.

Reservation permits take priority for use of facilities,  however if open, Sunrise Amphitheater is available for groups of 25 or fewer, and other open facilities are available at or below the thresholds listed above to use without a reservation permit on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Please read this information thoroughly to help answer questions and to understand the rules and regulations of the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department. We appreciate your interest in renting an OSMP facility.

COVID Terms & Conditions:

  • Must abide by all State, City, and County Orders including but not limited to: the current regulatory maximum group size by facility (listed above); maintaining 6ft of distance from people outside of your household; must bring a face covering and wear it when you cannot maintain 6 feet distance from others.
  • Reservation holders should collect contact information for guests or attendees through RSVPs or having guest sign-in sheets. Include times of arrival and departure to help with potential exposure notification.
  • Establish single-direction traffic flow in and out of facility and seating areas. Consider separate entrances and exits when available. Consider staggered guest arrival and departure times to avoid congregating at entrances and exits.
  • Seating at events must be appropriately spaced to reduce mingling and reinforce the necessary distance between individuals in different households.
  • Stationary activity and lingering should not occur outside of designated staging areas. Make sure to maintain 6 feet of distance from other groups.
  • OSMP strongly recommends that everyone takes extra caution in regards to using PPE (i.e. wear gloves and use hand sanitizer).
  • All visitors should take extra precaution when using the restrooms and outhouses on OSMP lands. Though OSMP staff go to extra effort to provide safe, sanitary facilities, it is wise to bring extra sanitizing supplies or to plan ahead to not use them.
  • OSMP also strongly recommends traveling separately as much as possible i.e. carpooling only with members of the same household.
  • A facility reservation permit only permits for commercial photography within the designated facility. Please note that Flagstaff will be off limits for commercial permit holders on weekends until further notice. Commercial photographers for events that have OSMP facility reservations must follow all separate Commercial Use Permit terms and conditions regarding photography taking place on OSMP lands outside the designated facility permit reservation area.
