Canyon Boulevard Waterline Replacement

Construction Updates- Revised on Jan. 10, 2018

The traffic signals for 24/7 one-way traffic in Boulder Canyon have been removed and two-way traffic has been restored. Additional work is needed at the entrance to Canon Park and will require flaggers, when appropriate. Construction has transitioned off Canyon Boulevard to the Red Rocks and Anemone trail vicinity where trail closures are in place. Water pipe work is expected to be completed in early March, with landscape restoration and the repaving of the two eastbound lanes of Canyon Boulevard west of 6th Street slated for spring.

At this time the work is scheduled in two phases:

  • Phase 1 began the week of Sept. 4 and involves running a new water line in Canyon between 101 Pearl Street and 6th Street. This work will continue through early Fall 2017. The impacts will be to eastbound and westbound traffic in Canyon Boulevard, both will be rerouted to the westbound lanes as the city installs new pipe in the eastbound lanes. The city will also be installing new pipe from 101 Pearl Street to Sunshine Hydro during this time.
  • Phase 2 will begin after Oct. 15 and impact Canyon Boulevard between 101 Pearl Street and Canon Park.  Signals will be put in place for a period three to four weeks allowing alternating access for east and west bound traffic 24/7.
