Frontier Avenue Bridge Replacement
The Frontier Avenue Bridge Replacement project is completed! A brand new bridge provides safer travel for cars, while the addition of sidewalks at the bridge gives pedestrians a safe route, too.
Thanks to you for your help in improving travel in the project area. Your feedback shaped project phasing to be the least disruptive and changed how the lanes were striped on Frontier Avenue to better support those trying to turn onto Pearl Parkway.
Thanks, too, to the contractor for getting the bridge replaced on time while maintaining enough lanes to support area businesses and their customers!
The city thanks you for your patience and support during project construction!
The bridge on Frontier Avenue, 250 feet north of Pearl Parkway, is in need of replacement: the current bridge deck is very deteriorated and lacks functional sidewalks.
A replacement bridge with five foot wide sidewalks along both sides will be installed, providing safer vehicular travel and continuous pedestrian facilities along Frontier Avenue.
The project budget is $300,000 and is funded by City of Boulder transportation funds.
The planning and design phase began in July 2015. Construction began in winter 2016 and will take around four months to complete. All work is weather dependent.
Construction will be phased to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction with occasional, temporary lane closures when necessary. Pedestrian detours may be in effect during construction.
