Boulder police arrest suspect in attempted sexual assault case
At approximately 7 p.m. a K9 from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office located Zachary Smith (DOB 06/16/95), the man believed to be responsible for an attempted sexual assault that occurred approximately 90 minutes prior in a home on the 1000 block of College Avenue.
The adult female victim contacted police at 5:28 p.m. and reported that when she arrived home a man jumped out of her bedroom closet, forced her onto her bed with a knife to her throat and threatened to sexually assault her. The woman fought the suspect off and then fled on foot. He was located in an alley between 970 and 980 9th Street. The victim sustained minor cut to her hand.
Smith is currently being held at the Boulder County Jail for attempted sexual assault, first degree burglary, trespassing and obstructing.
