Boulder police arrest driver involved in serious bodily injury car crash
Boulder police have arrested 19-year-old Ruben Diaz (DOB 05/23/98) on charges of Hit and Run, Careless Driving Causing Injury, Driving under Suspension and No Proof of Insurance. These charges stem from a traffic crash that occurred on June 14, 2017 at approximately 8:43 p.m., in the area of 15th and Broadway.
A pedestrian was crossing Broadway when she was struck by a silver 1997 BMW convertible, which, was traveling southbound on Broadway. The pedestrian was transported several feet on the hood of the vehicle before the driver, Diaz, turned westbound on 15th. The pedestrian was then ejected onto the street. The victim sustained serious, but non-life, threatening injuries, which include multiple broken bones. Diaz drove to the area of 15th Street and Bellevue Drive before calling 9-1-1 to report the crash.
