Boulder Reservoir swim area closed due to elevated bacteria levels

The Boulder Reservoir swim area, located at 5565 N. 51st St., currently is closed at least until noon on Wednesday, June 21 due to elevated levels of bacteria.

Swimming temporarily was suspended this afternoon as a precaution when a routine water sampling test determined bacteria levels to be elevated. The increased levels are believed to be possibly the result of wildlife activity. The reservoir swim area will re-open once bacteria levels return to acceptable levels.

For more information, call the Boulder Reservoir at 303-441-3461 or check for schedule updates on the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department’s Twitter account, @BoulderParksRec.
