Boulder Reservoir swim area closed due to elevated bacteria levels

The Boulder Reservoir swim area, located at 5565 N. 51st Street, currently is closed at least through Thursday, June 9, 5 p.m., due to elevated levels of bacteria.

Swimming was temporarily suspended this afternoon as a precaution when a routine water sampling test determined bacteria levels to be elevated. The increased levels are believed to be the result of rain runoff. The reservoir swim area will re-open once bacteria levels are reduced.

For more information, call the Boulder Reservoir at 303-441-3461 or check for schedule updates on the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department’s Twitter account, @BoulderParksRec.
