About Camp

Children are placed in groups of 7-8 campers with three counselors per group. This small group and high staff ratio is essential to the success of our campers, allowing us to work on social skills and individual goals.

OAC has been a successful setting for kids needing more behavioral support and consistency than a general camp setting. We serve kids with a variety of diagnoses including ADHD, ODD, anxiety disorders, PTSD and more.

OAC uses a mult-tiered system of support model. We have a general behavior program utilized by the entire camp based on a Positive Behavior Support System. We train our staff to place a heavy focus on what kids are doing right! If a child needs additional behavioral support beyond the general structure of the camp, we will work with the family to create an individualized plan to help that kid be successful.

Although we stress fun, safety is our number one priority. Because we are licensed through the state, we are unable to provide physical restraints. We find that if children have come to rely on or expect this kind of intervention, they may not be successful in this camp setting. We strive to have a successful, fun camp experience for each child.

We are licensed by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services No.1501832.

From parents:

“We loved the counselors and kid-to-counselor ratio. Our son always wanted to go and looks forward to next year”

“From beginning to end, Chelsea and all counselors were professional, welcoming, patient, kind and encouraging – both to our son, and to us, his parents, even amidst some difficult circumstances. They kept him safe, reached out to us when needed and provided an environment that challenged him to move outside his comfort zone while always giving him safe harbor when needed. We’re very grateful and had a great experience”.

From staff:

“This has been one of the most beautiful and positive experiences of my life. I feel so incredibly blessed and lucky to have been welcomed in to OAC with such support and kindness. I loved each of my kids so dearly and wouldn’t have traded this experience or my time with them for anything. I can’t wait to come back next summer to do it all again!”
