Fitness Instructor Profiles

All of our instructors hold national certifications and have CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.

Dora Briegleb

Certifications: NESTA Group Fitness; CancerFit

Dora enjoys instructing weight lifting, muscle toning, core fitness and "Fit for Life" seniors classes.  Currently, she teaches drop-in CARVE, Boulder Lift and Fit for Life classes. Weight training has become Dora's great passion. While Dora has a particular special calling for those dealing with cancer treatment, her hope is to help any age, fitness, or ability level get fit and strong. 

My philosophy is that "moderate exercise and physical activity cure many ills, so keep moving".

Carol DeBaca

Certifications: ACE Fitness Instructor, Indoor cycling (Johnny G Spinning and Schwinn Cycling), Stott Pilates Barre

Carol De Baca has been teaching fitness classes for over twenty years. During her career, she has taught classes in San Francisco, Berkeley, Santa Fe, Los Angeles and Boulder. Carol offers variety in her classes. Her motto is you need to change your workout to change your body. She teaches Carve, Total Body Fitness and The Ride.

Marti Harris

Certifications: AAAI/ISMA Fitness Training, Weight Training, Personal Trainer, Group Exercise, Essentrics/Classical Stretch, Pilates Mat, Silver Sneakers

Marti believes in promoting and inspiring personal growth. She designs programs for all ages and abilities. Marti does both group and partner training and can assist with weight management.  Marti's personal motto that she shares with all her students is "Never, never stop moving."

Heidi Lynch

Heidi is a retired physical therapist. She worked for 15 years at a multidisciplinary chronic pain clinic where the Swiss ball became an integral part of the physical therapy exercise program. In Heidi's classes, students from all ages and fitness levels gain numerous benefits such as muscular strength (especially "core" muscles from knees through shoulders), flexibility, balance, coordination, improved posture, stability and body awareness. Exercises can easily be individualized for each person's needs so that the challenge is at an appropriate level.

Terry McArthur

Certifications: Registered Dietitian (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics), Certified Personal Trainer (American Council on Exercise)

Terry currently teaches a drop-in Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT) class. She provides Personal Training and Nutrition Consultations for individuals through the City of Boulder Recreation Department. Most recently, Terry has become a Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program classes.

Terry enjoys influencing people of all ages to maintain or increase lean body muscle mass to be able to stay physically active throughout their life span. When it comes to nutrition, Terry believes that moderation, variety and balance are the keys to a healthy eating pattern.

Daryl Ogden

Certification: Group Fitness Instructor through NETA

Six years teaching sports and ski conditioning class.

Interested in maintaining flexibility, increasing strength and balance capabilities as we age.

Tom Schlatter

Certification: Personal Fitness Trainer AAAI/ISMA - American Aerobic Association International / International Sports Medicine Association

Tom is a certified trainer in Integrated Body Conditioning. He teaches Ski/Sports Conditioning classes to anyone who wants to be active in sports or physically active in general. He strongly believes that staying fit, physically and mentally are keys to health and well-being later in life!

Joe Wakefield

Certification: NETA- Group exercise

Joe teaches Sports Conditioning at South Boulder Recreation Center. Some members of Joe's drop-in class have been attending for close to 30 years. Although they're all getting a little longer in the tooth, they still surprise younger visitors and new members with their level of effort!
