Prairie Dog Count

Calling all early risers who enjoy watching wildlife - we need your help! 

Join the Parks and Recreation's Natural Area's staff this July and August to participate in the annual Prairie Dog Survey of critical wildlife habitat around the Boulder Reservoir. The annual census helps monitor populations and inform land management decisions. Counts will take place on July 17, 18 and 19 from 5:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and Aug. 14, 15, and 16 from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. 

Individuals interested in applying for this volunteer position should fill out the Prairie Dog Volunteer Application below. Volunteers must be proficient in binocular use and experience with wildlife surveying is encouraged. Qualified applicants will be contacted by phone or email to confirm the dates and times they can volunteer. Once volunteers are confirmed they will receive location information and any additional information they need to participate in this count.
