2019 NOTICE:  Scott Carpenter Park will be impacted by the 2019 pool construction.

Construction is underway at the park to perform critical work to have the pool open for fun in 2020, including site grading, demolition of structures and renovation of structures. During this period, we will do everything possible to ensure safety and minimize impact to park visitor and neighbors.   

 

Scott Carpenter Park and Pool is a community park that provides visitors with a wide variety of recreational facilities including a swimming pool, skate park, open turf field, diamond field, and the iconic Scott Carpenter playground.  Sledding in the winter is approved.

  • Outdoor pool | CLOSED for construction; please visit recreation center pools to swim.
  • Ball fields | OPEN during construction, although intermittent disruptions may occur. 
  • Public restroom | A portable unit is located near the 29th Street parking lot

  • Skate park | OPEN during construction, although intermittent disruptions may occur. 
  • Bike racks
  • Paved walking paths | OPEN during construction; pedestrian and bike paths may be temporarily rerouted around construction zones, please adhere to detours.  
    ​​NOTE: Installation of the new multi-use path and new outfield netting will require closing the existing east-west path between the 29th St. Scott Carpenter parking lot and the skate park on 30th St. The site map above details the detour and detour notification is posted on-site.
  • Parking lot | 30th Street lot is CLOSED for construction; 29th Street lot offers limited parking.
  • Leashed dogs permitted (excluding swimming pool area) | Dogs are welcome, but please know your pet and if she or he is comfortable with potential construction noise.

Nature Play Opportunities

Scott Carpenter Park and Pool is largely aimed toward programmed and structured recreational activity. Despite this design, children often play along the buffers of the park and on the playground, which contains crater and rock play structures, which emulate features found in nature.
