Sidewalk and Driveway Ramp Details

Sidewalk and Driveway Ramp Details

The Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that truncated domes be used at all new curb ramps and that attached sidewalks be constructed in a way that provides a three-foot wide accessible path around curb ramps, and driveways.

The City of Boulder requires that all new or rebuilt attached sidewalks be in compliance with these Federal standards, including attached sidewalks already approved for construction.

The city recognizes the following Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Standard Drawings:

  • M-608-1 for sidewalk ramps; and
  • M-609-1 for driveway ramps associated with attached sidewalks.

Digitized CAD drawings (.dwg and .pdf format) for these details are available from CDOT.
