ADU Update - Information Sharing and Digital Engagement
The city is exploring incremental changes to regulations that would remove some of the barriers to creating accessory units (also known as in-law apartments). On February 27, City Council held a study session to review a recently completed survey of ADU owners in Boulder (https://bouldercolorado.gov/housing/adu), the results of community engagement activities over the past several months (https://bouldercolorado.gov/housing/adu-update), and a list of options for regulation changes.
Based on council feedback, staff refined the list of options for proposed regulation changes and is seeking community input prior to a formal hearing with Planning Board and with City Council in the spring.
On Thursday, March 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. a public meetiing will be held at the Boulder Public Library (Canyon Theater, Canyon Blvd. and 9th St.) to learn more about the ADU Update options and how to provide input using a new online tool.
On Thursday, May 3 Planning Board will hold a formal public meeting on the ADU Update and make a recommendation to City Council for consideration in June.
