Police responded to the fishing pond in the 600 block of Canyon after someone reported a woman had jumped into the pond, grabbed a duckling and stuffed it in her backpack.  Officers retrieved the unharmed duckling and returned it to its mother.  The 31-year-old woman was cited for Failing to Protect Wildlife and Obstruction.  19-9048

A 24-year-old woman was arrested after police received a call of a theft that had just occurred at the Short Stop Gas Station, 1595 55th Street.  When officers arrived, they saw a woman standing in front of a truck who appeared to be distraught.  They discovered the suspect had entered the vehicle and was attempting to leave with the victim's baby in the car.  Officers were able to get the suspect out of the vehicle and found she had bitten the father of the baby as he was attempting to stop the woman from taking the truck.  The suspect was charged with Attempted Second Degree Kidnapping, Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft and Reckless Endangerment and several other offenses.  19-9049
