Commander - Support and Staff Services

Commander Katie McEldowney joined the Boulder Police Department in 1996 after working as a ranger for Boulder Mountain Parks. She also had five years' experience with the National Park Service as a law enforcement ranger at Rocky Mountain National Park.

She was promoted to commander in August 2014 and is currently responsible for the Support and Staff Services Division which includes:

  • Officer and staff training
  • Preserving property and evidence
  • Personnel
  • Victim Services

Previous assignments include five years as the department training sergeant, patrol on University Hill, Watch II and III Patrol and the Professional Standards Unit. Commander McEldowney has been involved in the department training program since 1997, serving as a trainer, firearms instructor and lead PTO coordinator.

Commander McEldowney graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
