Police Look for Suspect in Robbery at Recreation Center

At approximately 8:56 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6 police were dispatched to the North Boulder Recreation Center, 3170 Broadway on the report of a robbery that had just occurred.

A woman said she walked out to her car after using the recreation center.  She was opening the driver’s door with her purse strapped to her shoulder when she heard footsteps, turned around and saw a man running towards her.  He was brandishing a silver and black semi-automatic handgun.  The victim screamed and the suspect grabbed at her purse. She fell on the sidewalk covering her purse with her body.  The suspect grabbed her hair, slammed her head on the pavement, took her purse and ran away getting into a dark colored or grey, 80’s or 90’s sedan.  He drove from the parking lot onto Broadway.  The victim said the vehicles headlights sat low to the ground.  She was treated for an injury to her head at the scene.

The suspect is described as a light skinned Hispanic or black male, 30 to 40 years of age, tall and slender with a disheveled beard.  He was wearing a black hoody, with hair protruding from under the hood, and jeans.  A composite is forthcoming.

The case number is 17-14686.
