Week of Oct. 19
Community members will see increased construction activity on the CU Boulder South property including, but not limited to increased construction traffic accessing South Loop Dr from Table Mesa Dr.
- Installation of chain-link construction fence along the perimeter of the construction area for safety.
- Tree removal in the areas of the dam embankment and related earthwork, including the existing embankment along Moorehead Drive.
- Pumping for dewatering.
- Excavation and stockpiling of materials.
These construction activities will be visible on the CU Boulder South property and adjacent neighborhoods and from the on-ramp to eastbound US36 t Foothills.
While construction activities are disruptive and can be visually impactful, the area will be restored post-construction and will establish floodplain connectivity, reduce habitat fragmentation and improve hydrological function.
Additionally, the annexation agreement with the University of Colorado and City of Boulder allows for future development of the site by the university, including recreation amenities managed by the university and open to community members. Other areas will also be subject to a future planning effort. No decision has been made about specific visitor uses yet.
The city will continue to share regular construction updates on the project website to keep the community informed. Please reach out to floodproejcts@bouldercolorado.gov with questions or concerns.
