Nature Play Opportunities

The Habitat

Crest View Park contains a small wildlife sanctuary and wetland called "The Habitat", found when walking along the path from Crest View Elementary to the park. It provides an opportunity for children to view a wetland habitat and learn about its importance in an urban setting.

The Nest

This outdoor classroom was completed in August 2024 in partnership with Boulder Valley School District, Crest View Elementary, Classrooms for Climate Action, and Tree Sky Eco Art. The Nest is a place to learn, play, picnic, perform and gather in nature!

Fifth-grade students and teachers helped design this area with birds as a central theme. Spending time on site during the process allowed students to notice and appreciate the many birds visiting the adjacent wetland.

We invite the community to use this space which can be used on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are interested in using the whiteboard and would like the code to unlock it, please email parks-rec@bouldercolorado.gov or call 303-413-7200.
