BOULDER, Colo. – Starting Monday, June 10, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) will institute trail closures along the Royal Arch Trail to resume maintenance work along the popular Boulder trail. The trail will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. There are no trail closures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Weekday trail closures are expected to be in place through early September.

OSMP trail crews will continue work to rebuild the area along Sentinel Pass, near the top of the Royal Trail, which leads to the “Royal Arch” formation. Trail crews will also install steps using materials delivered by a helicopter last year. Planned work is part of a multi-year effort to conduct repairs along the Royal Arch Trail, one of the city’s legacy trails. These trails provide unique outdoor Boulder experiences but are steep, located in rugged terrain and prone to erosion, requiring extensive and ongoing trail maintenance.

OSMP reminds community member to visit OSMPTrails.org to see current closures across the city’s trail system. Visitors can view alternate trail and trailhead destinations through the city’s trail and trailhead website.
