The Open Space and Mountain Parks Gallagher property is available for agricultural uses. The 72-acre Gallagher property is located on the southwest corner of Kelso Road and N 51st St. City staff have elected to pursue a negotiated assignment of the Gallagher property to Ron Sutherland. High prairie dog occupation rates have caused losses in production and economic viability on the Stratton Property, leased by Ron Sutherland. The proposed assignment of the Gallagher property is intended to improve the viability of the Sutherland operation while restoration is underway on the Stratton Property. City ordinance and prairie dog management policy have limited the ability for agricultural tenants to control prairie dog populations. The City is proposing to assign 39 acres of the Gallagher property to Ron Sutherland for one annual lease term.
You have the ability to appeal staff’s recommendation to assign the Gallagher property. You must do so in writing within five business days after the notice of property assignment is posted on the city website. All written appeals shall be delivered in writing to the OSMP director by electronic mail to OSMPAgLeasing@bouldercolorado.gov. Please be clear on which basis you are making your appeal.
