Overview
The Boulder Public Art Program is advancing a new public art project for two underpass entrances along the Bear Creek Greenway Trail in Boulder, Colorado. Each location includes two walls (four walls total), and the artwork will enhance these active entry points along a popular multi-use path.
About the Bear Creek Greenway Trail
The Bear Creek Greenway Trail is a well-used corridor for walking, running, and biking. It connects neighborhoods and open spaces throughout Boulder and forms part of the 24-mile B360 bike route encircling the city.
Artistic Approach
The commissioned artwork will be a durable, outdoor installation designed to activate the underpass entrances and complement the character of the trail. Concepts may draw inspiration from the history, geography, or ecology of Bear Creek.
Selection Process
Applications are currently under review. A community selection panel, convened in accordance with Boulder’s Public Art Policy, will identify a shortlist of finalists in early 2026 and recommend an artist or artist team for the commission.
