Boulder Arts and Culture Venues Study

The City of Boulder’s Office of Arts and Culture is leading a research initiative to better understand the availability, condition and use of creative spaces across the city. This study supports the development of the Boulder Arts Blueprint, a long-range cultural plan that will guide future policy and investment in the arts.

As part of this effort, staff are actively collecting data on Boulder’s existing arts venues - examining factors such as space availability, rental rates and operational costs. Outreach is currently underway to venue managers, with initial contacts drawn from the Boulder County Arts Alliance’s Art Space Finder.

To complement this data, a Venue User Questionnaire launched in late 2024 invites input from artists, cultural workers and creative organizations. This ongoing survey gathers insights into the kinds of spaces people are using - or wish were available - for creating, rehearsing, teaching, exhibiting, and performing. Responses will help shape policies that better reflect the needs of Boulder’s creative community.
