Boulder County’s Universal Mask Requirement Ends Feb. 18 at 5 p.m.

On Feb. 14, the Boulder County Board of Health voted to rescind Public Health Order 2021-08 and Public Health Order 2021-07.

Masks No Longer Required in City of Boulder Facilities

Effective Friday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m., masks and face coverings are no longer required in indoor spaces and city facilities, including:

  • Boulder Public Library branches and locations
  • City of Boulder Recreation Centers
  • West Age Well Center for Older Adults
  • Boulder Police Department
  • Boulder Fire-Rescue
  • Buildings and facilities not affected by COVID-19 closures

Boulder County Public Health continues to recommend that masks are worn by individuals age 2+ when around others while the county remains at a level of substantial or high transmission.

Schools, childcare centers, private businesses, and employers may choose to implement their own policy requiring masks for individuals in their space. Some health-supported services at the West Age Well Center may still require face coverings.

Per federal guidance, face coverings continue to be required on public transportation, including public transit networks, airplanes, buses, trains, taxis, and rideshares, through March 18, 2022.

The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) requires face coverings for unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated staff, residents, and visitors in jails, homeless shelters, and emergency medical and other healthcare settings.

If you are sick, have COVID-19 symptoms, or have recently tested positive for COVID-19, please stay at home.

Note that some city administrative buildings and services remain closed as staff continues to work from home during the pandemic, including:

  • Penfield Tate II Municipal Building
  • The Brenton Building – Sales Tax and Licensing appointments remain virtual
  • The Planning & Development Services administrative building. Appointments remain virtual
