Dashboard Overview

This dashboard provides an interactive overview of the City of Boulder’s Boulder Arts Commission Cultural Grants Program funding from 2015 to present. This funding is through the Boulder Arts Commission Grant Program and does not include grants awarded through other offices or programs. It is designed to show how funding has been distributed over time and across different grant categories. Grant categories, award amounts and eligibility criteria have evolved over time in response to community feedback, equity goals and citywide priorities. Comparisons across years should be understood in this broader policy context. It is updated annually to support ongoing transparency and public access to grant funding information.

Key information displayed in the dashboard includes the number of grants awarded, total grant dollars awarded and the average award amount. This information can be filtered by grant category and by year.

To filter this dashboard, click on a specific year to see how funding is distributed across grant categories or click on a grant category to see how funding has changed over time. Alternatively, click the filter tab on the left-hand side to filter the data by year, grant category or genre. The tiles at the top of the dashboard automatically update based on these selections.

This dashboard supports the city’s commitment to transparency and informs ongoing planning efforts, including the Boulder Arts Blueprint, by helping the community understand how public funding has been allocated over time.

Note on ARPA-Funded Grants

Some grant categories displayed in this dashboard are no longer active or currently have reduced funding. These programs were supported through the federal American Resue Plan Act, which was allocated to address urgent impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the arts and cultural sector. ARPA funding is no longer available, though previous ARPA funding is included here for historical context.
