Lifeguard positions with the City of Boulder
Interested in working for Boulder as a lifeguard? Maybe you’ve played at one of our pools and you’re thinking “How can I get a job as a lifeguard in Parks and Recreation?” Now is the time! We want you to join our aquatics team.
- If you’re already certified to be a lifeguard, apply online
Need to earn your lifeguard certification? We regularly offer certification classes, so check out our next training class. If you take one of our classes and work a season for us, we will reimburse the cost of the certification class.
Before completing the certification, applicants must be able to:
- Tread water for two minutes with no hands
- Swim 300 yards with the freestyle and/or breaststroke
- Complete this brick event in under one minute, 40 seconds
- Starting at the wall, swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10 lb. brick from 10 feet underwater, surface and return to the starting point with both hands remaining on the brick the whole time.
- Set the brick poolside and exit the pool without help from a ladder, stairs or ramp.
We’re also hiring swim instructors and water attraction attendants for the large slides at Scott Carpenter Pool. For swim instructors, swim team experience is preferred and we offer in-house training.
