Interns will learn about day-to-day public service work and explore careers in local government
Applications are now open to rising high school juniors and seniors for a nine-week paid summer internship experience with the City of Boulder. The city seeks applicants from all backgrounds who have an interest in local government, leadership, public administration and public service. The city will accept online applications until the positions are filled.
“This is an impactful opportunity for teens to get unique exposure to public service systems and hands-on experiences in what it means to serve the community,” said program manager Taylor Reimann. “Scholars will receive direct mentoring from city staff, get a taste of field and office work, and learn about the many career opportunities in local government.”
Two interns will work ten to 15 hours per week for nine consecutive weeks between June and August. The pay rate is $20 per hour.
The Bob Turner Scholars Internship, named for former Boulder City Manager Bob Turner, is a partnership between the city and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and is available in many cities. The ICMA provides funding for internship salaries. Learn more about the program online: https://icma.org/page/bob-turner-scholars-program.
