Live streams at trailheads aim to help visitors plan visits, provide views of open space
Planning a visit to some of Boulder’s more popular Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) trailheads? Now, open space visitors can check real-time parking and weather conditions at some of the city’s trailheads before they go.
The City of Boulder has launched a new webpage featuring live video streams at eight Boulder open space areas, including the Chautauqua Meadow, Flagstaff Mountain, Wonderland Lake and trailheads south of the city. These camera feeds offer visitors a convenient way to “know before they go,” helping them better plan their visits, avoid crowded areas and consider alternate transportation options. Community members can also enjoy real-time views of Boulder’s open space, including a new camera at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage capturing the Boulder Flatirons.
Trailhead camera locations were selected based on available infrastructure. City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks plans to install additional cameras at other trailheads, where feasible, in the coming months. Camera feeds are provided as a courtesy and may be suspended or interrupted at any time due to weather, technical issues, or operational priorities, with service restored as staff resources allow.
The city encourages all visitors to recreate responsibly, whether or not there is a camera on them. Keeping our beautiful landscape and open space available for us to enjoy is a shared community responsibility.
