Temporary change in operations due to planned maintenance; work will not affect water quality

In observance of the Presidents Day Holiday on Monday, Feb. 16, the City of Boulder is adjusting its operations schedules.
City of Boulder water customers in Gunbarrel, Heatherwood, Hoover Hills, and areas north of Arapahoe Avenue and east of Foothills Parkway may notice a slight change in water taste this week due to a temporary change in operations starting on Friday, Feb. 13. The change does not impact water quality or public health. No service interruptions are expected.
Typically, water at the 63rd Street Water Treatment Plant is treated directly from Carter Lake via a pipeline. This pipeline will be out of service while the city’s utility partner, Northern Water, performs planned annual maintenance and inspections. During this time, the city will treat water from Boulder Reservoir, which may result in taste and odor changes for some customers.
Water customers in the central and western portions of the city are unlikely to notice a change. Drinking water in these areas is primarily from the Betasso Water Treatment Plant west of the city, which treats water from the headwaters of North Boulder Creek and Barker Reservoir.
