When you read this, we will have finalized our Court System Plan. It directs us to better take care of the 28 courts we have and recommends adding 22 dedicated pickleball courts and 22 dedicated tennis courts. We have already funded better court maintenance and look forward to identifying funding for new courts.
Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback to inform this plan – it definitely helped shape the plan for the future of sport courts in our city.
You can learn more, including checking out options for new courts, on the project webpage.
“Primos” means “cousins” in Spanish and is the name for a new 9-acre neighborhood park along Violet Avenue between Broadway and 19th Streets. Through an effort focused on nearby youth and with support from neighbors who live in the nearby Boulder Meadows neighborhood, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board approved the community-recommended name “Primos Park.” The name reflects the community’s hopes for playing with friends and family at the park and their multi-lingual experiences.
My thanks to our staff for engaging with the community and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for approving the new name. We’re excited to continue this park project, with final design expected later this year and construction to begin in 2025.
This summer has been a busy one, which is how it should be in parks and recreation. Our service levels across our facilities and programs are high and we love helping our community take care of their bodies, minds, and spirits through our parks, facilities and programs.
Thank you for taking time to share your feedback with us when we’ve asked, as continuous improvement is part of our DNA and your input helps us do better.
