Though the crowd of about 1,000 to 2,000 individuals acted disorderly, it was not a riot. When police responded with a large, uniformed presence and gave verbal commands to disperse, most of the crowd—many of whom appeared to be under the influence—left.

At the time of the incident, officers focused on the safety of life in addition to responding to other public safety calls throughout the city.
