Snowy conditions impact city operations

Critical overnight shelter options have been expanded; city facilities will close at 4 p.m., and City Council will hold meeting virtually

Due to the snow and forecasts that conditions will worsen into the evening, the city is making several operational changes:

  • The Boulder Shelter for the Homeless will be open for critical weather nights tonight, Thursday, Nov. 17, and tomorrow night, Friday, Nov. 18. This means their capacity will increase to 180 for both nights, and there will be no requirements that individuals enroll or participate in services. The shelter will stay open until 9:30 a.m. on Friday and close as normal at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning. If conditions are such that the daytime temperatures are expected to be a high of 20 degrees Fahrenheit or below, the shelter will remain open to anyone who stayed the night before.
  • All city facilities will close at 4 p.m. this evening. City-sponsored programming in these facilities after that time are cancelled. A private function, the Library Foundation’s Fundraising Gala, will continue as planned, and ticketed guests only will be permitted to access the Main Library.
  • Tonight’s City Council Meeting will be held virtually only. Anyone who was signed up to speak in person or online has been e-mailed a link to participate online. All others are invited to watch the meeting in real time on Comcast channels 8 or 880, on the city’s Watch Council Meetings webpage, or on the city’s YouTube channel.
