Wanted Fugitive Arrested in Boulder
Holiday Closures
In observance of the winter holidays, the City of Boulder is adjusting its operations schedules.
BOULDER, Colo. – Boulder Police officers worked together with the Colorado Department of Corrections today to safely take two individuals into custody.
Just before 9 a.m. on Sept. 1, Boulder Police were notified by the D.O.C. that a fugitive they had been looking for was at an apartment at 20th and Baseline. The D.O.C. Fugitive Apprehension Unit then asked for BPD’s help to take the individual into custody.
Because the individual had several warrants, additional fugitives were in the apartment and the safety threat to the community, Boulder Police activated its SWAT team. Additionally, officers learned the individuals had been armed on prior occasions and might have access to weapons. Because the individual has a history of eluding police, the decision was made to contain them inside the apartment for community safety.
After tactical negotiations, the team took two adult females and one adult male into custody without incident.
The fugitive adult female, Taylor Kraft, 29, had active warrants for 2nd degree kidnapping, robbery, 3rd degree assault and a D.O.C. warrant. A second adult female, Chelsea Wisdom, 33, was taken into custody on warrants for 2nd degree assault on a peace officer, eluding police, and multiple failure to appear for court on charges of trespassing, drugs, larceny and eluding out of Adams County. The adult male was later released.
Due to concerns for community safety and the proximity of a nearby school, Boulder Police communicated regularly with the Boulder Valley School District to ensure students were safe. Out of an abundance of caution, officers recommended the school go into Secure (formerly Lockout) when the officers served the warrant.
The Colorado Department of Corrections appreciates the Boulder Police Department’s assistance with taking this wanted fugitive safely into custody before she could flee the area again.
As in every criminal case, these charges are an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
